Day 4: Lake Las Vegas to El Mirage, AZ
We made it! The last two days were much smoother traveling as I got smarter in where and when to charge.
Suzanne and I took the dogs to the dog park after watching a beautiful sunrise. Good to have Cindy there too, can’t believe it’s been 8 years. I have a great picture but don’t have enough bandwidth to upload them on cell coverage. Setting up the WiFi is in the list for tomorrow.
I’m having dinner with Tim’s sister tonight and her neighbor tomorrow night. I’m looking forward to this community dinner rotation, need to figure out what to cook when it’s my turn.
After so much anticipation, I am delighted to report that the fighter jets are not impacting the dogs as badly as I had feared. I had been watching the skies as I drove in and didn’t see any until we were about a mile out. Then a pair was working in formation. Penny definitely noticed and I gave her some pills but it wasn’t a full on panic attack like in the hotel. I think it helps that she can hear them coming so it doesn’t surprise her. I tried to time their dinner and walk to avoid the jets but of course, they went right over while we were walking. I honestly think she reacted less outside than she did inside. So I guess we can chalk up all the energy I’ve put into this worry as unnecessary, but oh well. I’d rather be over prepared than caught by surprise. I’m sure we’ll have to continue to navigate but the lesson learned is that I just need to chill TF out.
The weather is lovely, not a cloud in the sky and temps in the high 70’s. I’ll do another blog with pictures this weekend. Thanks for all of the positive energy as we progressed in our journey. It is much appreciated, kind of like the beautiful rest stops in the PNW that I have taken for granted. I missed them greatly in Nevada and Arizona!
